OLATHE Kansas State University Olathe is making higher education more affordable by providing support to students through scholarships. Each of these financial awards is designed to ensure that learners can pursue an education without being limited due to financial constraints.

Reshma Anthony is a Johnson County Education Research Triangle, JCERT, scholarship recipient at K-State Olathe who received her graduate certificate in animal health regulatory affairs. For Anthony, her scholarship made an incredible difference in her academic experience and enabled her to pursue her education while maintaining a great work/life balance.

“I am extremely fortunate to be a beneficiary of the program developed from the investments made by residents of the county,” Anthony said. “I am truly grateful to them for their vision of developing this initiative for creating economic stimulus and a higher quality of life by improving the economic future of Johnson County and the State of Kansas.”

K-State Olathe wants to help every learner succeed, which is why a variety of scholarships designed to help students qualify for aid regardless of their program of study are available to those pursuing their undergraduate and graduate studies.

“My experience through the program was further enhanced by the JCERT award,” Anthony said. “The award had a positive impact on my professional and education goals in that it helped me finish the certificate program strong without having to worry about the financial burden of getting this education. Reducing financial concerns also meant that I could spend more time studying and learning and had more free time to spend with my family.”

With an academic focus on degree completion and graduate programs, K-State Olathe caters to non-traditional students who may already have active careers and families to care for. Available scholarships are designed with these students in mind and aim to ensure that learners are able to learn new skills, make new connections and acquire the education they need to move forward without financial stress limiting their academic opportunities.

Here are just a few of the scholarships available to potential students:

Transfer Students

New this year, K-State Olathe offers scholarships specifically for undergraduate transfer students. The scholarships are $3,000 over three years or $6,000 over three years, depending on a transfer student’s GPA. This scholarship is specifically designed to ensure that learners transferring from community colleges or other universities are able to complete their undergraduate programs.

Johnson County Residents

Unique to the Olathe campus, students who are residents of Johnson County also may be eligible for scholarships sponsored by JCERT. Applicants who qualify for the scholarship may receive up to $4,000.

Since 2012, more than 100 K-State Olathe students have received financial support from JCERT totaling nearly $175,000.

Hospitality Management Students

K-State Olathe offers scholarships that are sponsored in part by the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association. These scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds. Eligible students may receive up to $500 per semester for a total of four semesters. This scholarship is only available at K-State Olathe and is designed to benefit learners from the Greater Kansas City area.
